WCAA Curtain Standards
With an ambition to create a minimum standard from which we all can work from both a
selling and manufacturing perspective, the following guidelines have been established
to empower our industry with a point of reference.
MANUFACTURING - GENERAL.
All curtain fabrics shall be inspected for obvious weaving, printing, dyeing or other defects before manufacture.
All curtains shall be free of any obvious flaws unless otherwise specified in writing.
All curtains shall have straight hems, seams and joins with reasonable tolerance according to the nature of the fabric.
All curtain drops shall be pattern horizontally matched, unless otherwise specified.
All curtain seams shall be sewn with toning thread, unless otherwise specified.
All curtains shall be fitted with the correct hooks to suit the tracks or rod specified.
All curtain headings should cover an exposed track, unless otherwise specified.
All curtain linings shall not be more than 20mm shorter than the main curtain unless otherwise specified.
All curtains shall clear the floor by 10mm - 30mm & sill by 5mm - 15mm unless otherwise specified.
All curtains shall have returns, unless otherwise specified.
All curtains shall overlap in centre of track for two-way draw cord units, unless otherwise specified.
All curtains shall cover the end of track for one-way draw units, unless otherwise specified.
All individual window treatments shall have an appropriate care label attached to the curtain and comply with
relative government regulations.
No fabric is completely stable, it is reasonable to accept approximately 3% movement, depending on the
composition of the fabric & climatic conditions.
All curtains to have a minimum of 2 times fullness for lined curtains and 2.5 times for sheers calculated on the
headed track >
All separate linings shall have a minimum 1.5 times fullness calculated on the finished headed size of the linings,
unless otherwise specified in writing.
